Terms of Service

1. About Stempel

Stempel is an AI-powered tool for the identification of antique and historical firearms, operated by Stempel B.V. i.o., based in the Netherlands. By using stempel.tools or the Stempel mobile application, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Entertainment Purposes Only

The AI-generated identification results are based on visual pattern recognition and a reference database. They may be incomplete, incorrect, or misleading. Factors such as image quality, lighting, modifications, and regional variants can all affect accuracy.

Stempel is not a substitute for physical inspection by a qualified firearms expert, gunsmith, historian, or licensed appraiser. Before making any decision regarding the purchase, sale, restoration, or legal status of a firearm, always consult a qualified professional in person.

3. No Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Stempel B.V. i.o. and its operators, employees, and affiliates accept no liability whatsoever for:

• Any loss, damage, or harm arising from reliance on Stempel's identification results
• Financial loss resulting from decisions made on the basis of Stempel's output
• Incorrect identification of a firearm's origin, period, model, or value
• Any legal consequences related to the ownership, transfer, or use of a firearm
• Interruption, errors, or unavailability of the service

You use Stempel entirely at your own risk.

4. Permitted Use

You may use Stempel for personal, non-commercial identification and research of antique and historical firearms. You agree not to:

• Use Stempel in connection with any illegal activity
• Submit images of firearms that are unlawfully owned or possessed
• Attempt to circumvent access controls, scrape the service, or reverse-engineer the AI model
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Stempel's output without written permission

5. Subscriptions & Refunds

Stempel offers paid subscriptions and credit packages. Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms.

Given the digital nature of the service, credits that have been used are non-refundable. For unused credits or subscription fees, refund requests may be submitted within 14 days of purchase by emailing info@stempel.tools. Refunds are granted at our discretion.

EU consumers retain statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Directive, including a 14-day cooling-off period for digital services not yet accessed.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and technology on stempel.tools — including the AI model, reference database, and interface — is the property of Stempel B.V. i.o. and may not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without permission.

Images you submit remain your property. By submitting an image you grant us a limited licence to process it for identification purposes, and — if separately consented — to retain it for model improvement.

7. Availability

We aim to keep Stempel available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, with reasonable notice where possible. In the event of discontinuation, unused paid credits will be refunded.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Stempel after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under local law.
